Over 300 flood risk management professionals attended the Empire Theatre Toowoomba in May, with the 2022 Conference being the first face to face event held since 2019.
The FMA Conference has been held annually for over 50 years and is the most respected flood risk management event held in Australia.
The conference brought together over 350 flood professionals and community members with interests in floodplain risk management. Attendees included Commonwealth, State and Local Government representatives, research organisations and education providers as well as consultants, engineers, land-use planners, emergency responders and community volunteer organisations.
For the first time, the 2022 Conference was delivered in a hybrid format and included an online component for those attendees that were unable to travel. The Conference included outstanding Australian and International speakers, plenary and concurrent presentations, a Local Government Councillors’ session, field trips addressing floodplain issues in Toowoomba and surrounding areas, as well as great networking events.
