Floodplain Management Australia’s Excellence Awards publicly recognise the outstanding contribution of FMA organisations and individuals towards promoting wise land use planning, reducing flood impacts, managing flood incidents or restoring communities after a flood event. The Awards are the highlight of our National Conference each year, and offer the invaluable opportunity to showcase the incredible work flood risk professionals have undertaken in the past 12 months.
Nominations have now closed for the FMA Excellence Awards for 2026. Winners will be announced on Thursday 23rd April at the Gold Coast.
🏆 FMA IAG Flood Risk Management Project of the Year Award
Nominations were open to current FMA Members across all membership categories for projects directly related to flood risk management in Australia and/or New Zealand. Projects should have achieved a significant milestone or, preferably, been completed in the past 12 months, with preference given to fully implemented initiatives.
🏆 FMA Allan Ezzy Flood Risk Manager of the Year Award
This Award recognises an individual who demonstrates outstanding achievement in flood risk management through best practice, sustainable land use planning, community resilience, and innovation. Nominations were open to current FMA Members, or employees or representatives of FMA Member organisations, whose work relates to flood risk management in Australia and/or New Zealand.
🏆 FMA IAG Young Floodplain Manager of the Year Award
This Award recognises a Young Floodplain Manager who has made an outstanding contribution to the floodplain management industry and embodies the core values of the Young Floodplain Managers (YFM) network. Nominations were open to eligible FMA and YFM members aged 35 or under, with assessment based on demonstrated commitment to collaboration, technical excellence or innovation, industry connection, and advocacy for gender equality and diversity.
