Online November Quarterly Meeting Roundup

30th November 2020

On November 19, Floodplain Management Australia held its combined November Quarterly Meeting online bringing together flood risk professionals from around the nation and overseas.

The Meeting included updates from the FMA Executive, Department of Planning, Industry and Environment (NSW), Queensland Reconstruction Authority, Department of Land, Water and Environment (VIC), Insurance Council of Australia and Bureau of Meteorology. The day also included a brief from the Young Floodplain Managers network of FMA discussing their upcoming End of Year event (more on that further in the Flyer).

For the afternoon workshop, FMA partnered with the Australian Institute for Disaster Resilience (AIDR) to formally launch and showcase the recently finalised Flood Emergency Planning for Disaster Resilience Handbook.

The Workshop provided an overview of the Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook series, and featured leading Australian experts who contributed to the new Handbook unpacked the principles and practice of flood emergency planning.

A recording of the workshop will be made available at the AIDR website in the near future.

With the FMA February Meetings scheduled for a few months from now, we are hopeful to be able to hold them in person with COVID safe restrictions in place. Dates of the upcoming meetings are:

Queensland Chapter Meeting, Brisbane 10 February, 2021

NSW/ACT Chapter Meeting, Sydney 18 February, 2021

If you attended the recent online Meeting but did not get a chance to notify us of your attendance in the Chat Box, please contact us before COB Friday 11th December so we can include it in the Minutes.
