Vietnamese Delegation to Participate in FMA Conference

1st August 2016

International attendance numbers at the 2017 FMA National Conference will be boosted with the announcement that a delegation of 15 flood professionals from Viet Nam will be participating as part of an Australia Awards Fellowship.

The program entitled Floodplain Risk Management and Climate Change - Capacity Building in Viet Nam will be hosted by the University of Technology-Sydney with support from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, through AusAID. The group will also undertake site visits of flood mitigation projects and attend a lecture program at the UTS during their three week stay in Australia.

FMA President Ian Dinham said that inclusion of the FMA Conference in Newcastle as the centre-piece of the delegation’s study tour is acknowledgement of the national and international standing FMA Conferences have developed. “The delegation will include professionals from government agencies, academic institutions, private sector companies and research institutions from Viet Nam. We look forward to this exciting opportunity to share our experience and establish new long-term partnerships with yet another group of international colleagues.”
